There’s a lot of chatter over Madonna’s new single, “Girl Gone Wild.” The song was originally titled, “Girls Gone Wild,” but has since been changed. What brought this on? One thing could be Girls Gone Wild mogul, Joe Francis, who threatened to sue Madonna and company over the song title.
Francis claims he and the company have spent nearly a billion dollars building the Girls Gone Wild brand and that Madonna can’t just swoop in and snatch up the phrase for a song. Her management says it has been a working title and it was changed to singular, “girl” because that’s how Madonna says it when she’s singing the song. Francis says he’s sent over a cease and desist letter to Madonna’s camp although these claims were laughed off my Madonna’s manager when media outlets told him what Francis was claiming.
Billboard magazine says there’s a whole list of songs out there with “Girls Gone Wild” as lyrics, titles or subtitles, from artists like Ludacris and Lil’ Rick. Madonna’s people went on to say that Madonna has no idea who Joe Francis is. Burn.
Do you think Joe Francis will sue Madonna?
