COFFEE TALK: Will Matt Lauer's New "Today" Contract Reach $25 Million?

Newsday is reporting that Matt Lauer is being offered around $25 million dollars to stay at “Today”—with likely a two-year contract. Now THAT is definitely worth getting up early for! It would be an $8 million bump from his previous contract.

It does seem like a lot of money, and with the upcoming Olympics NBC doesn’t want to rock the boat. It is normal for networks to have to shell out big bucks to keep their big name talents happy. Not to mention, “Today” is one of most important shows and moneymakers on television.

The announcement is said to come before the networks May upfronts. Do you think Matt will get $25 Million? Let’s bet around the range: Less than $25m or $25m and More. (I guess we have to wait a couple more years to wake up to Ryan Seacrest.)
